ANNEXURE

The original freestanding federation bungalow is located within a strict heritage conservation area.

The previous rear addition was demolished and the original house was preserved and acknowledged as a significant heritage item in the local historical context.

The new addition was designed as a separate and contemporary house which makes reference to the existing in it's form and footprint. The generously sized northern windows and doors are a deliberate design feature to connect the rear garden to the house and invite the sun into the light filled interior.

Connection to the original dwelling is made as a low transparent roofed structure which houses utilities for bathing and washing and is serviced by large rainwater tanks alongside the new building.
