LANTERN HOUSE

The original interwar bungalow had undergone several additions and alterations over the years but their ad-hoc nature had failed to capture the potential of the elevated position and stunning eat views of Woodford Bay, the Harbour Bridge and the city.

The design proposal drew inspiration from the need to draw in light from the northern aspect and the house developed as a conductor of light. The design is an interplay of solid and void, light and shade, an assemblage of forms interwoven like a Chinese puzzle. While the existing foundations, north and west wall remain, this contemporary house gives few clues to it's antecedents.

Due for completion in August 2008.
