Lara Calder set up the practice of LCA Pty Ltd in 2003 as a sole practitioner. The company has grown to six people including a design team comprising two Architects, a graduate and two architectural students. The team blends industry experience and cutting-edge technical ability.

The practice is based in Sydney's lower North Shore with completed projects ranging in scale and scope across the city. A predominantly residential focus and expertise runs through these works, however the combined experience of the office traverses commercial, medical and educational fields. The team has an overarching mission to create well considered architecture that meets and exceeds our client's expectations.

The office is imbued with a design philosophy that embraces originality and innovation throughout all the projects, whilst ensuring the end result is contemporary, functional and harmonious. The fundamental design principles of proportion, scale, orientation and position, combined with our respect for energy efficiency, sustainability, environmental awareness and heritage requirements are key factors during the design process.

In our residential projects, recurring themes relating to increasing sunlight and ventilation, heightening privacy and maintaining or enhancing views are achieved by various means with creativity and ingenuity.

Our client's expectations are paramount thus we recognise the importance of communication from the outset to produce a befitting, highly finished and rewarding outcome. Understanding the clients; their aesthetic ideals, intended use, timeframe, budget, lifestyles, philosophies and special needs are important considerations from the first meeting.
